Madrid Airport to IFEMA MADRID: how to reach the right entrance
A practical route from Madrid-Barajas Airport to IFEMA MADRID: Metro Line 8, T1–T3 and T4 arrivals, airport ticket rules and the right exhibition gate.
Getting from Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport to IFEMA MADRID is straightforward by metro. Finding the right entrance for your exhibition or conference can take more preparation. The IFEMA name covers different venues, the exhibition grounds have several gates, and construction work can change the recommended approach.
For most airport arrivals, the clearest public-transport route is Metro Line 8 to Feria de Madrid, without a transfer. But before following signs from the station, check your event confirmation for the venue, hall and recommended gate. Reaching the exhibition complex is not necessarily the same as reaching the correct registration desk.

Check the venue before you leave the airport
IFEMA MADRID publishes two different addresses that visitors should not treat as interchangeable.
IFEMA MADRID Recinto Ferial, at Avenida del Partenón 5, 28042 Madrid, is the main fairground, with exhibition halls. If your event information names a numbered pabellón, this is usually the relevant site, but confirm the event's own directions.
Palacio Municipal IFEMA MADRID, at Avenida de la Capital de España 7, 28042 Madrid, is a separate conference venue nearby. A meeting at the Palacio Municipal should not automatically be routed to the exhibition hall entrance.

Save more than the fair's name in your phone. You need the hall or room, registration point and recommended entrance. If these are missing from your ticket, look for Cómo llegar, How to get there, Map or Recommended entrances on the official event website.
Take Metro Line 8 from the airport
Line 8 runs between Aeropuerto T4 and Nuevos Ministerios, stopping at Feria de Madrid along the way. From the airport, board a train towards Nuevos Ministerios.

Arriving at T1, T2 or T3
Follow the airport signs for Metro and reach Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 station. On Line 8 towards Nuevos Ministerios, Feria de Madrid is the next stop.
The single metro stop is only part of your journey. Depending on the terminal, you may still have a walk from arrivals to the station, particularly with checked luggage.
Arriving at T4
Use Aeropuerto T4 station and take Line 8 towards Nuevos Ministerios. The train stops at Barajas and Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 before Feria de Madrid, which is the third stop from T4.

There is no metro interchange, but your door-to-door time must also include baggage collection, buying a ticket, waiting for a train and walking to your event entrance. A stop count is not a reliable total travel-time estimate.
Arriving at T4S
T4S is a satellite terminal, not a separate Line 8 metro station. First take the airport's automated T4S–T4 people mover, following Aena's signs. Once at T4, continue to the metro station and board Line 8.
Allow for any additional arrival procedures applicable to your flight rather than assuming you can go straight from the aircraft to the metro.
Metro tickets and the airport supplement
Aena lists a €3 airport supplement for entry or exit through Aeropuerto T1-T2-T3 and Aeropuerto T4 when travelling with specified ticket types, including ordinary single tickets. It is added to the relevant metro fare. It is not an IFEMA entrance charge.
Single tickets are loaded onto a suitable contactless card, such as the Multi card, which can be purchased from metro ticket machines. Check current ticket conditions: some passes and other products follow different rules.
Which IFEMA gate should you use?
Feria de Madrid station is next to the southern side of the Recinto Ferial. Under the usual arrangement, metro passengers approach Puerta Sur (South Gate). That does not mean South Gate is the correct visitor entrance for every event.
The fairground also uses Puerta Norte, Puerta Este and Puerta Oeste. Event layouts, parking arrangements, simultaneous exhibitions and construction work may affect which gates are operational or recommended. IFEMA issued access updates during 2026, so older venue maps should not be treated as definitive.
A reliable four-step check

Find your exhibition's own official travel page, not just IFEMA's general directions.
Match your hall to the registration location. Visitors, exhibitors, press and suppliers may use different entry procedures.
Match the gate to your mode of arrival. A pedestrian coming from the metro and a visitor arriving at a car park may be directed to different entrances.
Check any temporary changes on the event date. During works, alternative pedestrian routes and occasional shuttle arrangements have been announced. Do not assume that a past shuttle or detour is still running.
For example, VETECO 2026's official instructions recommended South Gate for arrivals by metro and North Gate for access from certain parking areas. Those instructions applied to that event, not to every IFEMA exhibition.
If signage on the day differs from an old PDF, follow the current official event information and on-site staff directions rather than attempting to cross service-only roads.
Metro, taxi or bus: choosing after a flight
Metro is a practical first choice if you have manageable luggage, Line 8 is operating and your event accepts pedestrian access from the station. It is independent of road traffic, although the walk inside the fairground may still be substantial.
A taxi or private-hire car may suit large suitcases, exhibition materials, accessibility needs or an arrival outside metro operating hours. Tell the driver whether you need Recinto Ferial or Palacio Municipal and specify the current vehicle entrance or drop-off point. Road access and drop-off arrangements may change during works. Without a departure time and actual route, a fixed travel time or fare would be misleading.
Buses serve the fairground area: IFEMA lists city routes 73, 112 and 122, plus suburban route 828. They should not be presented as direct airport-to-fairground services without checking the specific route from your terminal. Consult the transport operator before relying on a bus connection.
Flying in on the day of your event
The easiest part to underestimate is the time after landing but before you reach your stand or meeting. Depending on your flight, this may include arrival controls, luggage, the metro ticket machines, the walk to the appropriate entrance, security and registration.
For an appointment with an exhibitor, store the hall number, stand number and a contact person. “Let's meet at IFEMA” is not a sufficiently precise meeting point.
Plan your return separately, particularly after evening events. Confirm Line 8's current service, the last useful departure and the terminal for your onward flight. If the timing is tight, identify an alternative before the event starts.
IFEMA also provides an assistance-request process for visitors with reduced mobility, asking for at least 48 hours' notice before the event begins. Feria de Madrid station is listed as having lift access, but that does not establish a fully step-free route to every hall during changing access arrangements.
Check before leaving the terminal
Is your event at Recinto Ferial or Palacio Municipal?
Do you have the hall, registration location and recommended gate?
Are you at T1–T3, T4 or T4S?
For the metro, follow Line 8 → Feria de Madrid, towards Nuevos Ministerios.
Have you allowed for the airport supplement, terminal walk and entrance checks?
Have you checked the current access map and the way back?
The most reliable sequence is simple: identify your actual event entrance first, then choose the journey to it. Metro Line 8 makes the airport connection convenient; your exhibition's current access instructions complete the route.
