IdeenExpo 2028: explore science, technology and career paths

About the event

IdeenExpo is a science, technology and careers event for young people. Its format puts experiential exhibits and participatory stations at the centre, so visitors can explore subjects through direct activity rather than only reading about them. Small-group workshops offer a way to investigate topics in greater depth. The approach makes scientific and technical fields more tangible through personal discovery and participation.

The core audience is school pupils in years 7–13, alongside children from age ten. Parents, grandparents and teachers can join young visitors as they think about further learning and future work. Rather than prescribing a choice, the event gives young people a setting to ask questions, try different areas and notice which subjects or activities interest them.

The educational purpose includes attracting young people to STEM fields and helping them explore vocational and academic pathways. Hands-on exhibits and stations invite visitors to engage directly with scientific and technical subjects, while small-group workshops allow for closer exploration. The event concept also includes information and assistance on entering working life from institutions, associations, chambers and companies. This creates another route for learning about professional and educational directions.

IdeenExpo takes place in Hannover from 1 to 9 July 2028.
